A Rochdale couple are celebrating climbing onto the property ladder having taken advantage of the Help to Buy scheme.
While renting a home in Bury, Salim Rashid, 36, and Sophia Richardson, 27, longed for their own home where they could raise their young family.
The couple moved with their five-year-old daughter, Maya, into Sophia’s parents’ home in Bury while they saved up for their first home together. And, after an extensive search, they found their dream property at Valley View - a development built by Prospect Homes off Tarnside Close.
The family have moved into a four-bedroom detached house at Valley View, which they purchased using the Government’s Help to Buy scheme.
Salim said: “When Maya was very young, we decided that we needed to buy a home for our young family to grow.
“We looked primarily at new build homes as we didn’t want to deal with the stress of redecorating. Once we visited Valley View we were very impressed with the high specification on offer and found we could get a larger home for our money.
“It’s Maya’s first family home and she absolutely loves it. We’ve already settled into the community and made friends on the estate. To see Maya and Sophia so happy is a fantastic feeling for me.”
The Help to Buy scheme allowed Salim and Sophia to purchase their home with a five per cent deposit and a 75 percent mortgage.
Having grown up in the suburbs of Manchester, a new life at Valley View presented Salim with a chance to move into a more rural location.
“Valley View just ticked every box for me and my family. Combined with the opportunity to use Help to Buy, it was just a no-brainer for us.
“When I was younger and living in Manchester, I was eager to buy a home in the countryside, so I wouldn’t have to listen to traffic in the morning. Now I wake up to the sounds of the nearby farm animals and it’s a delight.”
Prospect Homes is building 50 new homes at Valley View, ranging from three to four bedrooms in size.
